Why it’s great: The Hand Dipped Taper Set, from Maine-based Danica Design Candles, features two elegantly proportioned, old-fashioned-looking tapers that are 12½ inches (slightly longer than standard). We also noticed these stearin candles produced drips that were easier to dislodge and pop off from surfaces than other waxes (since the Maison Balzac candles are harder and smoother).

In testing, the candle dripped in the second hour only, with a minimal drip down one side.
